At Signify Health, a CVS Health® company, our mission is to build trusted relationships to make people healthier. Our national network of more than 12,000 clinicians works to help people gain a more comprehensive view of their health by conducting In-Home Health Evaluations (IHEs). During an IHE, clinicians identify chronic conditions, close gaps in care, and address social determinants of health, making it possible for health plan members to get connected to the right care for their unique needs.

We’re proud to showcase the clinicians helping us build a more connected, effective care experience for all – and their personal stories that make this important work feel #ClosetoHome. This is Christie’s story.

The path to Signify Health varies from clinician to clinician. For Christie Lada of Parkland, Florida, experience in telehealth, home health and sales laid the foundation for delivering exceptional support during in-home visits with Signify Health.

Untitled design (87)A native of Wilmington, DE, Christie earned her bachelor’s at the University of Delaware before a move to New York, where she completed the NCLEX-RN. After moving to Florida in 2014, Christie decided it was time to pursue her master’s and become a nurse practitioner (NP). She says her experience as a director of nursing for a home care agency helped her excel in her NP program.

Christie has been with Signify Health since 2023 and enjoys the time she spends with health plan members and the opportunity to make a difference.

“What I love about Signify Health is that we’re meeting people where they are. I’ve often encountered health plan members that haven’t seen a doctor in years,” she said. “Signify Health is pushing health care in the right direction, supporting people in the comfort of their homes.”

Sometimes, the biggest challenge she faces isn’t the visit itself, but rather, the initial introduction or reminder call. Christie believes it’s important to quickly build a sense of trust and explain why she’s there and how the visit can help.

“I think it’s important to dress the part. I wear scrubs and a white coat, often with my stethoscope visible. I want to show members that I’m a clinician and not there to sell them anything,” she said.

Given her background in home health, she also knows showing kindness and warmth goes a long way. Christie wants every member to feel comfortable with her being in their home. After all, she says, once she’s there, she feels she has the chance to make an impact.

For example, Christie recalls visiting with a member with a dangerously high blood pressure. Fortunately, the member’s daughter was also present during the IHE and immediately transported her father to the hospital for care.

Another element of working in the home is encountering a melting pot of cultures, traditions, and helping non-English-speaking members overcome the challenges of engaging with the greater health care system. Recently, she visited with a member who spoke Vietnamese. The Akorbi translator service, facilitated by Signify Health, ensured she could communicate her concerns about the member’s blood pressure. Although not dangerously high, the member needed to find a PCP who could provide ongoing care.

“While there, I provided her and her family with the contact for a Vietnamese-speaking provider who could offer the care she needed,” she said.

When she isn’t working, Christie enjoys running on her own and with a local group. She has participated in 50 races, including one full marathon. She is licensed in multiple states and able to  practice in Delaware, New York, Florida and California.
